On July 26th, David Grusch, along with two former pilots, gave sworn testimony that the US government has been reversed engineering recovered UAP craft. Grusch even went as far to say that we have recovered NHIs, “non-human intelligence”, from the craft as well. When asked for the evidence, Grusch, unfortunately, could not provide it in an open hearing, leaving the American public in a flux state. Americans have been hammered with UFO and alien conspiracies since at least 1947 and it's left us in a state of dull disinterest. Now, even with credible claims being brought forward, many Americans couldn't care less. SETI seems to be among those.
In a recent article, Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer at SETI, denied all of Grusch’s claims. In a naivety bordering that a seventeen year old, Shostak says that if aliens were here, it would be apparent to everyone. He claims “thousands of scientists would be fighting” to examine the craft. He says the evidence is “MIA” and Grusch seems to have no physical evidence. They would need a massive rocket, that the supposed civilization wouldn’t have unlimited money.
Shostak’s doubts aren't the only in the scientific community. After all, as Carl Sagan said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” However, denying even the possibility of truth to Grusch's claims is also unscientific. When we have a senior intelligence official, going on the record, being under oath in front of Congress like Grusch, it's a good idea to listen.
Shostak's claim that Grusch's evidence is MIA is also flawed. Just because you are sworn to tell the truth in front of Congress, and you have Whistleblower protections, doesn't mean you can reveal classified information on live TV. It's now in the hands of Congress to get the information necessary behind closed doors. Like it or not, the truth is in the hands of Congress.
Shostak also makes a mockery of scientific imagination. The absurdity of thinking any NHI would travel the universe in something as simple as a giant rocket is laughable. Conventional rockets will never be able to travel anywhere near the speed of light which would be necessary for interstellar travel. The two pilots who also testified described objects that defied the capabilities of our jets manifold. Why do we assume an NHI would use technology that we’re currently using?
Why the outright denial? Well, if E.T. is already here, the search is over. Mission ended. SETI should be communicating with Congress and advocating for the truth, whether it lies hundreds of light-years away or locked in Northrup-Gruman’s basement.
I'm not saying I'm entirely convinced myself. There are possibilities beyond a yes or no. We need hard evidence, but Grusch has turned the topic from a conspiracy to a fact finding mission. The truth is out there, let's go and look.
